Real life farm where schools provide a social network where kids can grow and cultivate fruits and vegetables. Digger Tots create digital and real life perspectives. Kids get to create an independent farming community, while sharing and comparing their experience with other schools on a national level. Participants will learn by doing. Kids will learn to care for living things, share insight about their farms, and learn the ecological diversity of their country.

A students farm in NYC would be much smaller than a farm in Nebraska. By creating a digital replica, kids can learn at school or at home where their foods come from, what the weather is like in different states throwout the year, and the difference in produce.

Lets start at the foundation and generate some healthier awareness!

This concept was developed by six students from Hyper Island.

Age of kids. The solutions to changing kids’ eating behaviors will vary depending on their age. What works for a toddler won’t necessarily fly for a teenager, although we suspect some concepts might be appropriate for all ages—even adults! Which age bracket does your concept address (tick all relevant boxes)?

  • Pre-school (Tots) 2-4
  • Elementary (Kids) 5-10

Hurdles to success. Helping kids make smarter food choices comes with a variety of hurdles that have to be addressed in order for a design solution to be successful, which of these do you think that your Concept overcomes (tick all relevant boxes)?

  • Expense and Convenience
  • Lack of Knowledge

I like this idea since it goes back to giving children "real-life" (and not just virtual) experiences, re-acquainting them with where food comes from -- making them appreciate food in a whole new way.
