Vegetable Circus Television Show!

The Vegetable Circus currently exists on both coasts of the United States, using circus arts to teach kids about proper eating, healthy activities & more through stage shows, workshops and after-school programs. With the help of Jamie Oliver and his production company, Fresh One, we propose that together we create a Vegetable Circus television program, that would include all our messages into a fun format that can quickly and effectively reach the masses.

The television program would feature a cast of Vegetable Circologists and talented young children, in the form of a variety show akin to Sesame Street.

The cast would go off on an adventure to a new location every episode, where they would get to see a new circus skill in action, and then receive some basic lessons that the audience at home can perhaps follow-up on.

Mixed in each episode would be lessons on food facts and demonstrations of simple, money-saving recipes that kids can try at home as well (with parental assistance!)

Guest musicians would come every episode to share a song or two about food and healthy choices.

And finally, throughout their adventures, the kids would be learning continual lessons in self-esteem, conflict resolution, friendship and respect!

Age of kids. The solutions to changing kids’ eating behaviors will vary depending on their age. What works for a toddler won’t necessarily fly for a teenager, although we suspect some concepts might be appropriate for all ages—even adults! Which age bracket does your concept address (tick all relevant boxes)?

  • Pre-school (Tots) 2-4
  • Elementary (Kids) 5-10

Hurdles to success. Helping kids make smarter food choices comes with a variety of hurdles that have to be addressed in order for a design solution to be successful, which of these do you think that your Concept overcomes (tick all relevant boxes)?

  • Expense and Convenience
  • Peer Pressure
  • Lack of Knowledge
