Produce. The Possibilities: how to make fruits and vegetables more delectable

Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke, decrease blood pressure, and may even protect against cancers. Unfortunately, most Americans do not eat enough fruits and vegetables to receive those health benefits. It’s no coincidence that the leading causes of death in the U.S. are heart disease, cancer, and stroke. Grocery shoppers in the produce section often wonder: What is this? What do I do with it? It doesn’t look very good -- is it worth the time to prepare it?

Create a visual communication system that enables grocery shoppers to make informed buying decisions concerning produce. Various in-store communications are provided, such as free-standing signs, labels that describe how to identify fresh produce, and take-home recipe cards and booklets. A companion web-site is also provided, which includes additional nutrition facts, recipes and serving suggestions.

Age of kids. The solutions to changing kids’ eating behaviors will vary depending on their age. What works for a toddler won’t necessarily fly for a teenager, although we suspect some concepts might be appropriate for all ages—even adults!
