Nutrient Wars, the answer to kids' favourite question "why?"
Super Hero nutrients and Super Villain contaminants battle it out throughout the Human body environment to teach kids (and adults), without teaching, what it is about fresh food that is good for them - and provide the answers to that continual "why?" question that persists in young kids' minds. Make it entertainment! Your kids can soon tell you all of the different names and skills etc of the Star Wars characters or favourite cartoon/game characters.
Kids (and adults too) love cartoons/animations.
To get an understanding of the goal, the kids need to understand the basics of what it is about fresh food that is good for them (and us). To give the explanation "because it's good for you" will only elicit the "why?" response. Once this "why" is understood, the joys and horrors of fresh vs processed foods, well prepared vs badly prepared foods etc can be addressed and understood, leading to a life-long appreciation of the benefits and dangers. I am no psychologist but I can guess that belief in the benefit/detriment of the contents of food will have an impact on how taste is perceived and enhance the joy and adventure of trying (new) healthy foods and avoiding others. This type of approach will probably also help to educate the adults/parents who have a sketchy knowledge of nutrition.
Turn the beneficial nutrients/ingredients of fresh food into cartoon characters - the super heros. The undesired elements of processed foods etc. then become characters also - the super villains.
These super heros and super villains can be created to represent the item and the benefit/detriment through the physical looks/actions/characters of the cartoon character/avatar.
Create animated stories around these super heros and super villains depicting their actions and their quests/loves/victories/failures. These stories can be on 2 levels: treat the characters' surroundings as separate eco systems/worlds inside different parts of the body: the second level could be separate people characters - healthy and unhealthy, old and young - their lives, how they choose and prepare food. The foods themselves can be the visitors from another world that bring the super heros/super villains sent by the Galaxy Saviours (the Jamie Olivers) or the Dark Overlords.......
The stories could even extend to a 3rd level and go back to the worlds that the visitors come from and deal with issues of pollution, global warming, poor production.
The whole thing could become like a science fiction series with the people being the planets and the food being the visitors/saviours/destroyers and their worlds being the source of the foods.
This could also serve to educate on basic health/diseases and how the human body works/reacts.
The possibilities for this would appear to be endless ranging from short stories around one topic to full blown, action-packed 3D epics covering cradle to grave.
Could also become interactive computer games, board games, novels...... Soft toys.......
The characters would take on personas and would work as visual guides on product information.
Just some first thoughts...... I can imagine messrs Cameron/Lucas having fun with this.
Age of kids. The solutions to changing kids’ eating behaviors will vary depending on their age. What works for a toddler won’t necessarily fly for a teenager, although we suspect some concepts might be appropriate for all ages—even adults!
