After reading a dozen or so interview posts, I noticed a theme: Nobody waltzes into higher education. Low-income students stress about money. High-income students stress about getting into the right school. (See for instance this excellent post into the trials of a wealthy applicant from Long Island.) Many students are leaving home. Some are worried about how their family will provide without their work and income.
This observation corroborates with data that show beginning school is one of life's most stressful events—and one of the first such events a young person will experience.
The emotional state of the user has design implications, so it should be understood.
