How 1Gen2Fund Works

1Gen2Fund is a SaaS platform that provides colleges (Connectors) with a solution to manage, retain and graduate 1st Generation students. The platform allows for 1st generation students (The Seekers) to ask for financial assistance, receive resources, and mentoring, so they can be successfully complete a 4 year college degree. The Givers--alumni, current students, individuals, and corporations can either be recommended or browse for the chosen 1st generation student that they would have a "connection with" and donate directly to through funding and non-financial support. Currently, 1Gen2Fund is testing two different types of recommendation methods: a collaborative and content-base methods to determine which one is the most appealing to Givers (Donors).  The potential success of 1Gen2Fund is it's ability to bridge the gap of The Seekers, Connectors and Givers.

Where is 1Gen2Fund Now?

We are currently in the process of starting to develop our college journey usability studies. If you know of a college that is interested in increasing graduation rates of 1st Generation students, then we are looking to work with you. Reach out to us at hello@1gen2fund.com.

We continuing our donor (giver) survey's if you have not had a opportunity to to take the survey please take the time to give us feedback as to how we can make the donors experience better.  bit.ly/1mWU4YC

We are sad to see our 1st generation student from Goucher College in Maryland, Jamie Yang move on and start her studies in Japan. It was great having with the team as our researcher. She provide invaluable assistance in 1st generation students challenges, obstacles and opportunities. Thank you for being part of the team, and we are looking forward to hearing more about your experiences in Japan.

On March 14th, Mary Jean and myself attended a very special event with the other top ideas at UBS United States headquarters in NYC! What a great experience to be able to present 1Gen2Fund to UBS employees, organizations and partners. We learned so much. One of my favorite parts was to get to meet all the other top finalist and learn more about their stories. We have already started exchanging ideas and collaborating.  We made some new friends and developed great contacts that we feel can take 1Gen2Fund to the next level. Thank you-- OpenIdea and especially UBS for making this trip and event possible.
