Next to tuition and fees, books is the third highest cost for college students. If books were provide,for free, students could save so much more money and put it towards other expenses.
So much money, and for what?
If unnecessary costs,like books the price would change immensely. We're already paying for the class, so the books should be supplied.
Who is the target audience for your idea and how does it reimagine the cost of college?
Students will still get the education they're paying for but books will be supplied. instead of making students pay even more money to use a book like five times throughout the course.
What early, lightweight experiment can you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?
Have a couple classes at the local community college supply the students with the books that are needed. After a semester ask the students how much money they saved, and if they liked it.What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?
