Artificial intelligence + Staffing & Recruiting + CBE = Passion filled students and employees

Intro: The REAL Problem

Have you experienced the sensation (or lack there of) of staying up all night cramming for an exam? Being a good student, you got a 90%, but now it’s a few months later and of course your job is on the 10% you didn’t know. Unless you’re like the majority of graduates, in which case it’s on a completely different subject all together.

Companies waste thousands of dollars training these employees to do something they don’t even like so they can pay back an education they didn’t even use. It’s no wonder why schools and companies both have such an issue with attrition. 

The Solution

What if we used Artificial intelligence to help students identify their passions with the purpose of accomplishing tasks recognized and valued by someone who will pay for it? 

Step 1: Identify Passion

What career do you want to lock yourself into for the rest of your life? It’s a scary question and many people have such varied interests that if they only focused on one at a time, they may not even find out until after they retire. 

By empowering individuals to study what they love, students can build strengths in areas where they feel strong, cultivating the circumstances for self-actualization.

Step 2: Refine Cause

As an employer, would you rather have someone working for you who loves what they do, or is barely grateful to have a job? A Gallup poll discovered,

“at the end of the day, an intrinsic connection to one’s work and one’s company is what truly drives performance, inspires discretionary effort and improves wellbeing.”

By cultivating these connections in a competency based education (CBE) model with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) we can really set up students for success. Facebook and Google use a type of AI referred to as a knowledge graph in their day to day functions. Unlike keywords which search in a more linear fashion, graph search identifies what your looking for based on it’s contextual relationship.

This competency-based AI can simplify the path to the finish line. Students may create their own specialized or cross-disciplinary “degrees” resulting in more fulfilled individuals with meaningful careers.

Step 3: Walk into Purpose

When you can connect your passion with a cause you are walking in your purpose. It is our purpose to help others self-actualize and this journey could not continue without connecting our students with jobs.

Introducing a staffing and recruiting model while students are enrolled enables students to tangibly experience where their education is leading them. Companies also have written competencies for their employees, usually organized into a job description. Matching these to the education competencies in the graph would streamline the staffing and recruiting process.

The AI would even suggest how students can recalibrate their course load based on selected career outcomes. Not only could this significantly reduce recruiting and onboarding expenses for company partners, but would focus students on their skill training and connect them with jobs much sooner then traditional models. This could also eliminate the disconnect between the thousands of open jobs and the thousands of “unqualified” post-grads.

Passion filled students will have a guaranteed job and minimal if any education fees by the end of their program. Using already existing artificial intelligence technology with CBE, we can shorten the path it takes students to identify their passions and be a competent company asset walking in their purpose. Companies will spend less attention finding and training people on company time, will recruit higher quality candidates, and increase retention by having passionate employees increase their bottom line.
