Who is the target audience for your idea and how does it reimagine the cost of college?

Dyslexic individuals make a huge and positive impact on society in their inventiveness to develop new systems, companies and arts. But there is a prevalence of dyslexia among prison inmates in all countries and in America. My Target Audience is are dyslexic students in middle school. This online course will have profound impact on later life outcomes, and will possibly save lives from incarceration and improve social justice for this large (millions of students in America) minority group.

Using a online MOOC platform, content will be tailored to dyslexic learners so they can learn about career paths like arts, engineering, science, communications and storytelling. Highlighting real dyslexic individuals and using self awareness exercises, and projects, students will be able to gain confidence in order to pursue their own passions. Projects can be curated and prize money for higher ed tuition or trade school, will be given out. The organizing organization will be a nonprofit and its governance will include dyslexic individuals as well as dyslexic young professionals. Funds for the prize will be determined at a later point after IDEO process. 

What early, lightweight experiment can you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Using edX (free) to build out first curriculum, using social media to tell people about it, and then award top projects will be determined by the board of directors.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

Need help using IDEO design process of developing user profiles (student, teacher, careers, school administration, learning difference specialists) so that the curriculum can be better adapted and implemented with little overhead and supervision and timeframe. Also need help using design process to guide development of the curriculum.
