Who is the target audience for your idea and how does it reimagine the cost of college?

Target audiences are young people at school and young professionals who want to change careers. Through One Day Experiences, young people get better informed and inspired to find their route to the higher education that fits them best, increasing the % of successful graduates entering the workforce, reducing the amount of school drop outs and unemployed people and reducing expenses on multiple educations. Companies have a role as inspirators for talented young people.

One Day Experience is platform that gives young people the chance to get in contact with passionate professionals, who are active in a field they are interested in, and see for a day what it would be like to actually have such a job while finding out how they managed to get there.

On the other hand One Day Experience gives the possibility for professionals to share with young people what they are passionate about, explaining what they like about it (and what not!) and to support and inspire young people to find their way to do what they are passionate about.

At the same time companies can get to know talented young people who are interested in their field of work, and might become their colleugues or clients in the future.... One Day.

What early, lightweight experiment can you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Besides questionnaires, we are doing pilots with young people; asking them what professions they would be interested in to know more about and search within our networks if we can find a matching professional. When a match is found we connect them and help find a date on which the One Day Experience can take place and interview both parties afterwards. With this lightweight experiment we want to see if there is a demand from young people and interest from the side of the professionals.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

The Barcelona Open IDEO group is trying to set this platform up in our city, starting with some pilots here. We strongly believe this can be beneficial for people all around the globe though! It would be great if you could try this out in in your town, simply asking a young person what they would like to try out for a day and see if you can make a match within your network. Let us know how it went and share the lessens you learned!

Hey guys! Awesome work! Some feedback on your presentation: try to find high res photos the ones you have are a bit blurry. Even better if they aren't stock but images you took of your real users. You can use quotes from your interviews to ground the customer need identified, also you should identify your market size there (and how you came to that). For the business model and value proposition slides try to distill those down to some key points on how your business will function and why people will pay for it. Don't put the whole canvas on the slide. Love all the progress you've made!
