Being healthy, eating good food and exercising it is incredibly important at every age. Then why is it so difficult to keep it up, or even to start?
Being healthy is not something that happens overnight. You don't see the results immediately, every month you will feel better, but the process is slow and requires a lot of mental and physical energies. Most of the times you feel alone in the process, not supported by others and frustrated because you have to loose 20, 30, 40 pounds or reduce blood pressure... it seems such an impossible goal to achieve.
In the last couple of years, many people passionate about health, nutrition, fitness and food started movements just by having people sharing their experiences on social media. Share your story with others online, and see the results of other individuals that went through the same process you are going through, create a powerful sense of community!
Kayla Itsines, for example, a personal trainer from Australia started a real movement. She created a set of exercises for women to feel stronger, more confident and healthier: all of a sudden, millions of women began following her activities and supporting each others online. The community shares personal achievements through social media and people comment and supports each other in the process. Her Instagram page is incredibly successful and inspiring for many women!
This example makes me think about: can feel part of a community that is going through the same struggle help? Can social media assist in the process of being more healthy by sharing successful stories? Can this relate to the people in need in low-income communities?
