Highly interactive based app.

A character app that young kids would connect and relate to would send and reward kids in highly dynamic missions and healthy food habits.

Who is the target audience for your idea and how does it inspire the end user to lead a healthier life?

Young generation is highly influenced by computer games and super heroes. They sit behind computer screens of tablets countless hours. A story-based app, with a character that kids would relate to (based on their cultural experiences and history) would send them into highly dynamic activities as well as healthy food and lifestyle habits. Some sort of rewards, based on online peer recognition could create the necessary stimulus for those kids to start the change their communities need.

Remember "tamagotchi", some 20 years, or so, ago?

A highly interactive character based app, culturally related to each specific community, would require young kids (or people in general) to perform dynamic activities as well as live a healthy life style and would reward the character, as well as people interacting with the app, accordingly.

Creating family and community online groups that share the app based story and also function as the peer pressure group that constantly monitors each group individual healthy life style could help drive the necessary change.

The sense of belonging to a group that somehow relates to a technology based character that helps to drive to habits could have the potential to go viral thus starting the change.

What early, lightweight experiment can you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

No previous experiences. Sorry but I just thought of this now and would like to see how it goes, if it goes anywhere from here.

What skills, input or guidance are you keen to connect with from the OpenIDEO community to help you build out or refine your idea?

Try me. Share ideas, a good knowledge of technology, the need to be somehow helpful.

Hi Nuno,

Great idea! The Manchester meetup actually had a similar idea. Check it out https://openideo.com/challenge/healthy-lives/ideas/text-play-learn-be-healthy/comments#!comments-section

It's Interesting that you mentioned children would be the driver for change in their communities. So the knowledge obtained by children could inform their parents who might be illiterate or have no health education/knowledge. And the children would also carry this knowledge with them when years later they also become parents.

Great perspective on starting change and maintaining it for future generations!

Great to have you onboard! We notice your post is currently unpublished. Was this your intention? We'd love to have it included on the challenge. If you decide you'd like it included, you can publish it by hitting the Publish Entry up there at the top of your post. Or update it first by hitting the Edit Contribution button. Looking forward to seeing more of you on conversations across this challenge...

Thanks. Your e-mail alerting me for this had links that did not work. The message was something like "the page is not available". I believe it was because I was not logged-in. Once I logon, it started to show the correct page.
I would suggest that instead of "page is not available message" you would redirect to the login page.

Thanks for the helpful feedback Nuno! We'll definitely take that into consideration. And great to see a Tamagotchi inspired idea in the challenge. Have you considered what type of healthy activities these digital characters might inspire?

Shane, thank you for your feedback. Depending on the person and his/her peer group, life style, age, cultural habits, education, location, mood, etc, those activities could go from reading a good book or going to an exhibition or a show, all the way to going for a 2h walk or, on the other extreme, running a marathon or going for a hike or go surfing. It should be something that will probably take the person out of his/her normal comfort zone into an activity that, besides being healthy (in the traditional understanding), brings some change to the person life. The idea is to help push the person into the concept of "Anima Sana in Corpore Sano" - please disregard any possible reference to a well known sports equipment manufacturer.
