What challenges or opportunities are you trying to address within the problem? (200 characters or less)

genneve's online clinic provides access to practitioners, education, lifestyle programs and products (Rx and OTC) for symptom relief and long-term illness prevention in women ages 40+.

Who is your target end user and why will they be interested? (650 characters or less)

Every woman goes through menopause. As part of this phase of a woman's reproductive health, hormonal levels decrease, thereby contributing to declining bone health. The truth of it is, says the International Osteoporosis Foundation, one in ten women aged 60 are affected by osteoporosis, and after age 50, a woman’s risk of death from a hip fracture is equivalent to her risk of death from breast cancer. And yet, up to 80 percent of those at the highest risk – those who have already had at least one osteoporotic fracture – have not been identified, nor are they receiving treatment. Given the potential impact of osteoporosis on longevity and quality of life, genneve is expanding our platform to increase symptom tracking features and lifestyle programs that can prevent and/or help patients post bone fracture.

How is your idea scaleable? (650 characters or less)

Genneve's telemedicine platform leverages the power of secure technology with the expertise of our network of doctors and health coaches to help women manage their health in menopause and in the second half of life. Through our platform, we improve access to physicians that are experienced in women health issues in the second half of life. We also leverage use the power of lifestyle management programs for patients, that guide, monitor and motivate them to engage in prevention tactics (diet, exercise) and prescription handling to manage anything from osteoporosis to heart disease and dementia - all of which are triggered during the menopause phase of life which is where we "catch" the patient.

What do/will you measure to know if your solution worked? (500 characters or less)

1. Prevention of fractures through increased awareness 2. Medication adherence through telemed access to practitioners 3. Post fracture healing through lifestyle program engagement and monitoring.

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Early Adoption: We have completed a pilot and analyzed the impact of that pilot on the intended users of the idea. I have proof of user uptake (i.e. 16% to 49% of the target population or 1,000 to 50,000 users).

If you were to become a Top Idea, would you want to actively participate in piloting your idea?

  • I want my idea piloted, and I prefer to do my own piloting in collaboration with the health system and with assistance from the Challenge partner

I'm Jill Angelo, a 20 year tech executive from Microsoft. I'm the CEO of genneve and founded the company 3 years ago to empower women to take control of their health in menopause and into the second half of life. I'm a 45 year old woman who is building the type of company that is re imagining how women's health is supported and understood. Dr Rebecca Dunsmoor-Su is genneve's Chief Medical Officer. As an obgyn, Dr Dunsmoor-Su has worked with thousands of women in the second half of life and sees osteoporosis cases on a daily basis. Shannon Perry is a 20-year educator and serves as genneve's Editor and Programming Director. Her focus on creating credible women's health education and prevention programs stems from being a caregiver for her mother with osteoporosis. Sarah Ramsey is genneve's VP of Engineering, and brings 20+ years of working in cancer research at Fred Hutch Cancer Center and Providence Medical Center on digital health platforms. We're all women in midlife.

This blog is one example of genneve's evidence-based education for women's health in the second half of life. Our platform focuses on health prevention for second-half-of-life issues, including osteoporosis. More women die of osteoporosis than breast cancer, according to Dr. Avrum Bluming, therefore genneve is dedicated to educating women, and then providing telemedicine-based practitioners and online products for symptom relief and prevention.
