What challenges or opportunities are you trying to address within the problem? (200 characters or less)

We are trying to address is how to increase awareness of this health topic of osteoporosis among a socially active subset of the population who this may not directly be impacted by the issue.

Our idea is for a widely shareable and interactive social activity that can lead to increased awareness and support of the issue of osteoporosis in populations that may not directly be impacted by this issue. By using a fun, engaging, and interactive physical activity as the initial point of engagement, the hope is that individuals across multiple age demographics can be compelled to participate and share their execution of this activity. This moment can then be associated with a call to action that can link to a donation campaign, for example. Providing funding directly to groups and organizations that have the expertise and knowledge to bridge the gaps in the post-fracture care journey can be a great way to support the organizations, increasing their potential to have greater outreach and impact.

Who is your target end user and why will they be interested? (650 characters or less)

Our target users are engaged users on social media participating in viral trends to bring awareness. The initial appeal of this activity will be the fun, visually entertaining, and interactive aspect of the dance that encourages participation. The call to action behind the dance can also be appealing in that it provides the individual with some virtuous justification for participating with the dance. This method seeks to utilize the appeal of positivity to drive attention to the core cause of osteoporosis and bone health. Our vision is that these users will recognize the problem and reach out to people who are prone to osteoporosis.

How is your idea scaleable? (650 characters or less)

Our idea is scalable because of its inherent social component. The barrier of entry to participate is quite low, and it gives participants social currency to exchange and distribute on their personal social media platforms. It is a simple dance and people already understand it. It is tying a good cause to something that people recognize. The hope is that the activity can transcend common barriers between healthy individuals and knowledge about issues that may not directly impact them.

What do/will you measure to know if your solution worked? (500 characters or less)

The engagement measurements of our social movement will share with us a better understanding of awareness. Also, any campaigns associated with this movement would see an increased amount of engagement and social dialogue amongst the participants.
