Reduce the Likelihood of Falls

Reducing the use of Anticholinergic drugs, of which there are many, will reduce dementia from these drugs and resulting falls & fractures.

Who is your target end user and why will they be interested? (650 characters or less)

Educating older people is important. Too often these drugs are the standard and their effects are cumulative, so after 8-10 years their impact shows up. Doctors may prescribe initially because it is easiest, and then just continue renewing the prescription and not inform the person.

How is your idea scaleable? (650 characters or less)

Educating patients so they keep watch and reduce the use of these type drugs whenever possible.

What do/will you measure to know if your solution worked? (500 characters or less)

Fewer fractures.

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Prototype: We have done some small tests or experiments with prospective users to continue developing the idea.

If you were to become a Top Idea, would you want to actively participate in piloting your idea?

  • I want my idea piloted, but I’d prefer not to be involved in the pilot and prefer that the health system adopts my idea for piloting with assistance from the Challenge partner

This applies to much more than patients with osteoporosis. It may be impacting or potentially impacting the majority of those over 65.
