I have been working at my current workplace since last five years so I have a lot of portfolios as on today which makes my life stressful and keeps me busy even after the working hours. I had no expectation or intention to receive any kind of appreciation for my efforts and extra inputs for my work. I was not aware but it is obvious that higher authorities always keep eyes on their employees. One day there was a meeting of higher authorities of my institute and few guests from other academic sector were present there. Suddenly, I was invited by our director and he has introduced me to all honorable guests and appreciated me for my loyalty and hard work which identify me extraordinary among all the employees of my institute. I am very grateful to my director for that few words because those words of appreciation in front of all increases my efficiency beyond the limit and also I am getting more respect afterwards.

I am currently working for an administrator who does this type of thing. Just a few words of appreciation, when she doesn't have to, makes a huge difference in how I feel about work. I am coming from an administrator who wouldn't have said a single nice thing to anyone about me in spite of doing the same jobs and extras around the workplace. It has drastically improved my (and my families) way of life.
