Someone Who Does So Much

Asking student athletes what they are thankful for.

Seeing that student athletes are already given so much, I figured it would be interesting to see what they are actually grateful for and what they appreciate the most. Most of the student athletes I interviewed and spoke with stated that they are most thankful for the people who help them and make their difficult, stressful lives easier. Specifically, I interviewed a D1 Hockey Player on the mens team here. He made it evident that one person makes his life much easier than it has to be. Ashley, his academic counselor has made his life very easy, allowing for him to get good grades and keeps his grades high enough to compete at the collegiate level. Similarly, I am very thankful for my own academic counselor, Stephanie. Stephanie has assisted me in applying to grad schools and keeping my grades in the necessary range to apply. Often, we, as student athletes, forget to be thankful for all that we are given, but knowing that someone is working just as hard as we are on the field is very rewarding and makes us humble.

Mae,

Great to see you sharing multiple Research Posts in this Challenge! Did the D1 Hockey Player mention how he expresses gratitude to his Academic Advisor? How do you express gratitude most often to faculty who support you at University of Michigan?

Also, is there any chance you could find an image to go along with your post? Images help grab attention and tell a story. You should be able to use the Edit Contribution button on the top of your post and follow the instructions to add images from there.

Looking forward to seeing more of your inspiring insights on OpenIDEO.
