Being part of a community with the Michigan soccer team, I went about this part of my contribution to interview teammates on how they express their gratitude to the University. Many of them said that giving back to the community is one of the most important ways they have been able to express their gratitude, for example volunteering at the Motts Hospital or join student organizations that make positive changes in the community or at the University. Everyone who I talked to also said that every time they put on the University of Michigan jersey they are grateful for everyone who has been a part of their opportunity to be able to play a sport at Michigan. Many of the acts of gratitude that come with being a student-athlete may not be a verbal thank you but shown through actions made. Personally, being someone who loves to talk and get to know others I like to show my gratitude through personal connections with others. So expressing my thanks vocally to our chefs, academic advisors, teammates, coaches and supporters.
