I have been involved in facilitating the evaluation of organizations in East A Africa.
I want to share you the story of the organization founder who had all the power and made all the decissions, the staff, volunteers and board members that have do not to take decisions on how the organization is leading. When the Executive Director came to office everyone had to stand to greet and say the motto of thevorganization.
The external facilitator tried to encourage director to having the idea of detect improvised the organization, but Director strongly opposed this idea by fearing that this process would betrayed him or exposed him.
In the later Director agreed to having the meeting with his staff, after the meeting he began to dividing the responsibilities and engage staffs and beneficiaries. He surprised to see the contributions of the staffs and volunteers and realizes the potential they had, and said I was thinking that my staff do not know anything, now I recognized their efforts.
