The Thank You button

Similar to the Staples "That was easy" button, but this time it expresses gratitude

Remember in the year 2005 when Staples released that big red easy button that people loved to slam around? My idea is to design a button that is similar to their button, except instead of exclaiming how easy a task was, it will play a message that expresses general gratitude for a co-worker/teammate accomplishing a task.

The Thank You button

How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.

I'm hoping that my idea would give an experience and expression of gratitude in fast-paced organizations. I think that my idea would be seen as a quick and simple way of thanking someone, for helping with a problem, or for covering another worker. From my experience, in certain fast-paced work environments, there is a very slim to none chance of catching a break especially during working hours, where someone can express forms of gratitude, so as a way to circumvent this, the Thank You Button can be passed to a person and pressed for a quick thank you message.

Who are you innovating for?

My idea would benefit the people who are working in environments that are very stressed, fast-paced and someone what disorganized. My intention is that for these workplaces (i.e. Restaurants, IT departments, or Retail Stores) where workers are constantly busy dealing with customers or projects and they want to quickly thank someone for something and get back to what they were working on.

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

The workplaces that I am innovating for are places that have to deal with a high volume of customers or the demand of the product/service is high.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

I would envision the button having a central location (i.e a desk) and the person who wants to express their gratitude would take the button and either press it or give it to the person they want to receive the thank you.

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

One obstacle that I foresee is that the button isn't really transferable across all places of work. For places where breaks are allowed or places that aren't as busy shouldn't use the button because they are able to take a moment and thank their team members.

How will you test and prototype your solution?

I will develop the button and then take the work and then ask people to use the button. Hopefully, the button would be used frequently and be implemented into my workplace permanently.

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

The next immediate steps are I would work on designing the face of the button and work on the messages that the button will play. After that, I would have to find someone to do the voice over for the button and then test out the button.
