The Reciprocity Initiative
A platform for workers to propose ideas for ways their company can use its facilities to offer services to fellow workers with problems.
The Reciprocity Initiative
How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.
The feelings of gratitude don't have to be just pleasant sensations, they can also act as powerful motivators for actions. Actions not just of expressing gratitiude in words but also of providing beneficial sevices to the persons towards the gratitude is felt. This can be facilitated by developing and deploying an intranet platform, where workers could submit their proposals for projects that utilize their organization's infrastructure, for offering help and support in various forms (education, recreation, health care etc) to the rest of the workers and their families, as a way of proving in action the gratitude they feel towards them.
Who are you innovating for?
This is aimed to help the workers and their families of the Greek Ministry of Defence, and similar govermnent institutions and big scale coorporations.
What type of workplaces are you innovating for?
The idea could used in government institutions or big coorporations, that have many resourses that can be utilized and also many employees than can benefit from this utilization.
How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?
The concept can be submitted as a proposal for the improvement of the operation procedures of the institution that will implement it.
What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?
The resistance and the inertia, that inhibits the development of any novel concept is the greatest obstacle. But it can be overcome through perservernce and the communication between the decision makers in the institution and the proponents of the idea.
How will you test and prototype your solution?
With the help of the IT department of the organization, a beta version of the intranet platform can be implemented and tested in the initial phase at a subset of the Institution.
What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.
The selection and hiring of specialized IT consultants with the appropriate experience in similar endeavors, will be the first step. The purchase of the needed equipment (servers etc) will follow.
At what stage of development is your Idea?
Research & Early Testing: You are exploring an idea, gathering inspiration and information needed to test it with real users.
Please describe from where your Idea emerged
This idea came to me, during my involvement in the Design of an Indoor Skydiving Center for the Greek Army. The Center will be used for the training of the Greek Army Officers, but I had the inspiration that it could be used to facilitate the physical and psychological therapy of paraplegics who are former employees of the Greek Ministry of Defence or members of their families. This service would be an expression of gratitude to the employees, who are now in a difficult phase in their lives.
