Hi5 is a simple way to conveniently recognise a coworker within company.

Hi5 is a simple app that empowers employees to High Five each other for a job well done.

The logic to Hi5 is that you can only give out 5 High Fives a month, this ensures that the gratitude has a currency and worth.

All the High Fives get displayed on a public wall, so everyone in the company can see the appreciation.

Is there is an existing High Five, you can ‘Back it’ if you agree with it. This increases the engagement so users don’t have to think too much about something new all the time.

How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.

Instant: No need to fill in surveys or forms it instantly appears on the ‘Hi5 wall of Fame’ Bottom-up Methodology: Because Hi5s aren’t moderated with management red tape, they are instantly live on company wall, which means that employees who normally don’t get recognition could get some appreciation for their work. "Research clearly shows that top-down recognition is not what makes companies thrive today - it's recognition by your peers, the people you work with every day." Josh Bersin -Principal and Founder, Bersin by Deloitte Simple and easy: The interface doesn't require much behavior change for the up and coming work force, we all think work and play in tweets and giffs.

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

From SME/SMB through to Enterprise (20 - 5000 employees) I would pilot in Mid LSM Markets specialised sectors (Advertising & Marketing companies, Retail, Finance) and then broaden from there.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

Plan A) Bottom-up Partner with great brands (Starbucks, Levis, Blue Apron, AirBNB, Uber) to give away prizes for great recognition Given and Received to Individuals, Teams and Employees. This will great that desire for employees to take initiative in installing the app and High Fiving each other. Plan B) Top Down. Would be initiated by leadership to encourage the company to appreciate each other.

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

There might be jostling for more Hi5s based on positioning, this will require continuous improvements in algorithms and sentiment measurement.

How will you test and prototype your solution?

Within a small company and measure the data across different departments.

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

Invest in continuous research and pilots with different groups and demographics to identify patterns and opportunities accordingly.

Please describe from where your Idea emerged

We kick-it off as a side-project to automate the recognition and culture measurement within a company I was running. Word spread and it turned out a few other companies had a similar challenge. Everyone was looking for a simple solution to increase and measure appreciation and culture within their companies.

Tell us about your experience

My background is programming, however I've haven't had the luxury of touching code for at least 10 years. I spent the last 10 years leading teams in solving challenges with teams of designers and engineers using continuous lean agile methodologies. Since the side-project, which is now Hi5 has been formed, I've been focused in solving the ongoing challenge that companies have when it comes to improving culture.
