Feedup is a web-base application where we want to everyone in the company to feel rewarded and recognized. Based on our design research, we  found that everyone stay in very different working environment, and is hard to design a physical workplace  to address the problem of gratitude. So we want to use Feedup to build a feedback system where employees could feel that their work is recognized, and mangers can do a better job on team building, project management.  We want to create a positive, humanistic working culture and the final goal is inspire experiences and expressions of gratitude in the workplace.

The key elements of Feedup:

Users can see their work performance on the dashboard, and the performance is not only base on how much time they spend on their project, but more importantly we want to use natural language processing to sentiment analysis their feedback data.

Feedback box is the place where they can see their own feedback (Alerts (new feedbacks)/ previous feeds). We will have Suggest some hashtags in the bottom of the feedback box, the goal of this suggestion algorithm is to help everyone give better and valuable feedback. They can add all kinds of media pictures/videos/emoji, etc. to make their feedback playful. Once everyone knew the feedback they got are valuable, they will start request and give more feedback, so we build a ecosystem where people can share their thoughts and experiences.

There will be a project finder. We don't want to people using this for track the process of their projects, there are many tools help professionals do that. In Feedup, the project finder is a place people can take notes, mark questions  of their projects. And it's where shows how many feedback you’ve got, in which process of the project you got the feedback.

The value of Feedup:

In this design challenge, we speed lot of time thinking how to create gratitude in workplace. And we found out the feeling of gratitude is a mico-interaction and it is depends on every individuals. We knew that employees want the support for peers and leaders, and mangers want create humanistic feeling in their teams. So we create Feedup, the tool for better working culture in here people share, grew, and be gratitude .

By using Feedup, employees got feedback from their colleagues and leaders all the time, which will help them do better at workplace, and have effective communication with each others. For mangers, it's easier see everyone's work performance, and they will love the atmosphere Feedup bring in teams.

Who are you innovating for?

We are innovating for all working professionals. By using Feedup, every individuals learn from each other, and done work faster. In the end, all of them will feel grateful of the works they did.

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

All kinds of workplaces where people doing project-based work. We believe Feedup is good for all size of organizations. And we interview people from China and American, the needs for good feedbacks seem like the universal problem in workplace.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

Everyone in the workplace can log in to Feedup by use their work emails, and they can start request feedback, and give feedback to others. Also, they use Feedback ask question about work, take notes about project progress. Than, they will feel the happiness around workplace.

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

As a team with mainly design, social science, and business background. We were not 100% sure how can we make the technical parts (natural language processing, data visualization) happening. Once this going to the High-Fidelity Prototype step, we will ask developers and engineers for advises.

How will you test and prototype your solution?

We are currently at the prototyping stage, and once we finished our prototype we will doing some user testing for Feedup. We are planning run through our product with all kinds of employees and mangers. After the testing, we will do a next run of prototype base the feedback with our ideal users. We want to make sure we did create a product with positive user experience and achieve the goal of inspire experiences and expressions of gratitude in the workplace.

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

Once we receive an implementation grant, we will finish the step of user testing. So we can hiring engineers work with us build Feedup together! We need Greater Good Science Center because it's a wonderful place for start a product.

At what stage of development is your Idea?

  • Research & Early Testing: You are exploring an idea, gathering inspiration and information needed to test it with real users.
  • Prototyping: You have conducted some small tests or experiments with prospective users and will continue developing idea through these tests.

Please describe from where your Idea emerged

We start our idea base the researches at OpenIDEO, than we went through the human-center design process. Than we believe Feedup is the solution for inspire experiences and expressions of gratitude in the workplace.
