Demonstration of Expertise in Different Modalities

Demonstrating the expertise of different staff members will enhance the appreciation for different areas of the therapeutic process

We will chose one Friday a month to show a specialty in one of  the many areas the clinic specializes in -- including but not limited to music therapy, drama therapy, DBT, CBT, etc. This will allow staff members in differing areas of expertise to better understand and appreciate their colleagues work as well as allowing therapists to showcase their skills.

How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.

This idea will make everyone in the workplace more appreciative of what every individual does. This would not only be a learning experience for everyone but it may also open up ways to stay connected to different types of training in different specialties.

Who are you innovating for?

We are innovating for both the staff and the clients. The staff will be more aware of what their colleagues do and this will aid clients by allowing their therapist to be more educated about different types of therapies that will be well suited for the client.

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

Our workplace is a small Non Profit Mental Health Clinic in an urban setting -- the clinic is under-resourced, has a high volume of clients, high-stress, and a high risk population. The Organization has approximately 35 staff members.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

We would introduce this idea via company wide emails and/or announcements via weekly meetings. This will allow us to assign a group of staff members with a certain expertise a designated month in which they will either be able to present something of their choosing related to their work and/or bring in a guest speaker.

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

The obstacles I foresee are involved in establishing a designated time for these meetings to occur -- however, with compromise and possibly alternately timed meetings every month we will resolve this.

How will you test and prototype your solution?

We will test this idea by picking one group of staff members in a certain field to present and if all goes well -- we will continue this.

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

If the grant is received, we will seek an expert from a certain modality that is willing to present and that will allow our clinicians to gain CEU hours. We will organize a meeting for this expert to present with staff.
