Ways to use Gratitude to Enhance Confidence in Coworkers

How might I change the ways in which I show gratitude in order to enhance the confidence of my coworkers?

My idea for how to go about solving this problem is rather simple. I work with about 45 other people, so it is better for me to come up with simple, but effective ways for me to show gratitude to my coworkers that also builds their confidence. The idea stems from showing my appreciation for their work and acknowledging how it benefits the community we live in. Acknowledging their work is the key component in to solving the problem. This is because in order to build their confidence in the workplace, I must focus my attention to acknowledging their work to show them that they are capable of doing and completing the task correctly. When I was first an RA in the residential dorms there was so much training, in such a short amount of time that I never really felt confident in doing task by myself. Using gratitude to enhance the confidence of others early is also key component.

My idea to show gratitude to enhance the confidence of my coworkers is to utilize the resources at hand such as their personal mailbox, paper and pen. Throughout the week, I plan to watch my coworkers closely at work and jot down on a piece of paper things that they’ve done and exceptional job at. At the end of each week, I will place the notes into their mailbox. I believe that overtime; this act of gratitude will reflect their confidence level in the workplace.

This idea will inspire the experience and expression within an organization by giving confidence to all members and creating an environment where people are willing to work because they see their work is recognized. I believe that enhancing confidence should be the key in all workplaces because not only does is feel great to have confidence when completely a task and knowing that you’re doing it right, but also it reduces the amount of mistakes to be made.

Who are you innovating for?

I am innovating for workplaces that require you to talk with other coworkers on a daily basis. I see these kinds of workplaces benefitting from this idea because it will help build a better working environment where everyone feels motivated, appreciated and confident.

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

The intended organization size is about 50 people or less.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

I envision this idea only being introduced to a couple of people who have been recognized in the organization for showing gratitude. Introducing the idea to a lot of people to start off with can make the idea seemed forced and it takes away the meaning behind the idea. I personally feel that if it were to be introduced, it wouldn’t seem genuine, but more so forced. Where as, gathering people together who show gratitude often would be more natural expression that could then influence others to do the same. In my organization it would be more effective if my coworkers or I implemented the idea because it can seem more like an assignment if our supervisors were to implement it.

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

I can foresee my colleagues choosing similar people each week to receive positive comments; however I will overcome this by challenging them to choose as many different coworkers as they can each week

How will you test and prototype your solution?

I would begin by testing the idea on a couple of coworkers who have done excellent work and then making a survey a couple weeks later to see how there confidence levels have changed since the implementation of the solution.

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

If I receive an implementation grant I would immediately choose 5 people for my staff to begin analyzing the people we work with and start the task.

This is an individual idea that I have come up with on my own based on experiences where I have felt appreciated and in return it gave me confidence in the workplace.
