A white board is set up somewhere easily accessible in the office and staff are welcome to write down statements/comments indicating something or someone to whom they're grateful for.
The White Board of Gratitude
How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.
This idea will encourage cohesion in the workplace -- it will allow for staff to be recognized and will supply an outlet for the gratitude and thankfulness the staff feel for the work done by their colleagues. Gratitude is a chain reaction and contagious.
Who are you innovating for?
The staff will benefit by the direct recognition and appreciation of their work. Thus, this will subsequently benefit clients who will feel the increased staff morale in the environment.
What type of workplaces are you innovating for?
Our workplace is a small Mental Health Clinic in an urban setting -- the clinic is under-resourced, has a high volume of clients, high-stress, and a high risk population. The Organization has approximately 35 staff members.
How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?
This idea would be introduced via email and/or announcements in the weekly meetings via the program director. There will be whiteboards and markers bought for each gratitude area created.
What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?
The obstacles in implementing this idea would be finding several easily accessible areas to put a white board -- this can be overcome by better organizing the clinic.
How will you test and prototype your solution?
We will test this idea by first putting post-its on a designated wall area -- we will observe whether or not this activity enhances staff morale and continue from there.
What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.
If an implementation grant is received we will order supplies to kick start off this plan. The opportunity to work with mentoring organizations will help to accelerate our solution by giving us more perspectives on how to further boost gratitude to extend to not only our staff but more directly to our clients as well.
At what stage of development is your Idea?
Research & Early Testing: You are exploring an idea, gathering inspiration and information needed to test it with real users.
