The GV Cookie

Each GV Cookie comes with a healthy dose of GRATEFULNESS VIBES + a note: an inspiring quote, a gratitude challenge, or a positive reminder

The GV Cookie is an unexpected treat and an interjection in employee’s routine, sweetening his day and priming him to be open and grateful (prompted by the note that he will receive along with it).

It will be McCann Worldgroup Philippines's way of saying thanks to every employee during our next Town Hall event, and employees will be encouraged to "spread the GV around" by purchasing future rounds of cookies to give to their colleagues (and even to themselves--because no one will be able to resist these cute cookies!) :D

Proceeds of future sales of the GV Cookies may be used to fund either future "McGratitude" or "McCulture" projects, or even to projects that could benefit external charities or non-profits.

Idea Title

The GV Cookie

How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.

The GV Cookie will inspire the EXPERIENCE of gratitude because employees will first receive this fun, small, yummy, shareable (and cute!) treat unexpectedly, and coming from the company itself. Everyone will receive it during our next Town Hall event, when we usually gather to celebrate our wins and our breaking work as one integrated agency.

It will then inspire the EXPRESSION of gratitude, because we will encourage employees to "spread the GV around" by making the GV Cookies available for sale in subsequent Town Halls and encouraging them to thank their colleagues through themed prompts. (Example: "Thank the unsung heroes who work quietly behind the scenes.")

Who are you innovating for?

Our own colleagues in McCann Worldgroup Philippines: Around 300 people from various backgrounds and disciplines who work in a cutthroat, time-starved, high-pressure industry that demands creativity and agility 24/7, where people rarely have the time to express gratitude to others, but where gratitude can go a long way. Especially the ones who work in the background without any fanfare.

Being Filipino, we also love to eat--and we love sweet snacks especially in mid-afternoon :D

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

- Location: Manila, Philippines
- Organizational size: Around 300 full-time, project-based, and freelance staff; also including service staff (e.g., security guards, cleaners, service staff, etc.)

McCann Worldgroup Philippines is the largest and leading integrated marketing communications agency in the Philippines, and is part of the 23,000, 120-country-strong McCann Worldgroup network around the world.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

1. THE GV COOKIE LAUNCH: To be held at our next Town Hall event, in line with the agency's creative leaders showcasing our breaking work and celebrating our wins. HR will ensure that every employee gets his or her own GV Cookie, personalized with a note and/or a prompt.

2. THE GV COOKIE DRIVE: Everyone will be encouraged to share the good vibes by buying a GV Cookie for someone else and personalizing that with good vibes (and a note) to give to someone they’re thankful for! (“What’s the one thing that this person did that you’re most grateful for?”) The GV Cookies will be sold in specially marked booths during our quarterly Town Hall events.

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

Just minor obstacles such as:
1. Where will we source the cookies with the designs that we like? -- We can scout around from a wide range of cookie suppliers and bakeshops
2. Will we get budget approval for this? (We have very tight purse strings) -- HR says that if we give these out as part of our quarterly Town Halls, then we can include these in the budget for these events
3. Will this catch on to be a regular ritual and not just a novelty? -- There's only one way to find out!

How will you test and prototype your solution?

1. Identify a cookie supplier and order the first batch of cookies, to be given as a gift by the company to employees
-- Before that, measure employee level of gratitude and happiness (or a "Gratitude Quotient") before launching GV Cookies
2. Send out GV Cookies together with the next Town Hall
3. Send out the same questionnaire to see the difference

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

This might not be the breakthrough idea worthy of a grant, but we would love to develop the "Gratitude Quotient" survey/questionnaire and be able to use it in different scenarios*, and possibly even share it around the McCann Worldgroup network and with our clients.

*Please see our idea around the Gratitude Playbook, for more ideas on how the Gratitude Quotient can be developed and used
