Too often we're immersed in our day to day events and forget to simply stop, look someone in the eye, and recognize their contribution. That happened to me today. A colleague stopped by to drop off a box. Instead of stopping, looking her in the eye, and thanking her for dropping off the box, I complained about another, older order that came in unexpectedly. Instead of complaining, I should have stopped, looked her in the eye, and recognized her contribution with a thank you and other specific words. We all have to slow it down in our places of living and work and recognize the contributions of one another with big, frequent Thank You's! Lesson learned.
