Every 3-4 months, a committee made up of company employees will coordinate various "field trips" for their co-workers to take. These kind of trips would be something like visiting museums, going to ball games, taking a river cruise, going to a casino for a night, a spa retreat, and more! These trips will not only relieve the built up stress within employees, but will also help co-workers bond with each other which will lead to expressions of gratitude.

Idea Title

A Journey for Gratuity

How the Idea will inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization.

This idea will help inspire the experience and expression of gratitude within an organization by encouraging bonds between people, which will then lead to creating expressions of gratitude.

Who are you innovating for?

All members of the work community would benefit from this idea.

What type of workplaces are you innovating for?

I am innovating this idea for any professional work environments.

How you envision the Idea being introduced to your selected organization?

I would like to create a committee within an office, which would help introduce this idea and will hopefully encourage excitement for these potential "field trips."

What obstacles, if any, do you foresee in implementing this Idea, and how would they be overcome?

A problem that may arise would be funding and proper planning for these trips.

How will you test and prototype your solution?

To try this idea out, I would like to implement my idea at a company, by introducing different sorts of "field trips" they could take with their co-workers. Then, after they have taken the trip of their choice, I would have them write a small reflection on their "field trip" experience and read their feedback.

What immediate next steps will you take if you receive an implementation grant.

I will get in touch with companies, such as Ford, General Motors, Google, Amazon, etc., and promote my idea to them. If any of these companies do respond to my idea, I would prototype a version of a "field trip" with cooperating organizations. Then, I would collect data from the prototype "field trip," which will help me create a permanent solution to implement within the company.

At what stage of development is your Idea?

  • Research & Early Testing: You are exploring an idea, gathering inspiration and information needed to test it with real users.

Please describe from where your Idea emerged

My idea was inspired by my parent's workplace. At their workplace, there are times during the year where the company would sponsor trips to take for enjoyment with their co-workers. For example, one year they had the choice of either visiting the Ford Museum or going to a Tiger's baseball game.
