Before completion of college or university, most students are required to come up with a project  idea and do vast research on the topic. The project, ideally, needs to have a problem statement which shows the problem they are trying to solve.

Industry players  and Lectures should be brought on board during this stage to help in analysis of the projects practicality, feasibility of the projects during implementation and giving advice to the students on how best the project can run.

The industry players can also fund this projects during the implementation phase after campus and that would open up the students to a lot of opportunities, networks and it drives more emphasis to entrepreneurship filled with passion and cause.

The idea is to engage the students, lectures and industry players in order to reduce the current crisis of unemployment ,since there is a big gap between the jobs in the job market and the number of people graduating from colleges.

Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine higher education to support the needs of tomorrow?

1.The idea is designed for the students ,as it ensures that the project being undertaken will solve real life problems on the ground. 2. The immediate community as the students take initiative in making their voices being heard through implementation of their projects and opening up more opportunities to others. This could solve the rising number of unemployment among the youth especially in countries that have a large youth population.

This idea emerged from:

  • A group brainstorm
  • A Design Jam or Workshop event

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

Providing suggestions and other insightful opinions to build up on the idea

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Holding forums where the students get to interact with the industry players , share on their projects and learn about the market needs.
