Currently a variety of interesting models exist, especially for part time graduate education. For example, the Imperial Health Policy MSc offers two week teaching blocks twice a year to accommodate work schedules and planning. Other courses are completed a day a week or others are completely online. Internships, co-op experiences, and volunteering are embedded within programs to gain practical experience. What is students were able to choose from a variety of models to customise their own education based on their preferences and committments.

Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine higher education to support the needs of tomorrow?

Students in need of flexible education or who might think that their schedule does not allow for pursuit of education. Offering a service which first provides an awareness of way education could be offered and then guidance for applying/making it happen could be extremely beneficial.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

Research into successful models of education and the practicality of offering them. Can see potential difficulties in organising classes or meeting the needs of students. Certain degrees might be better suited to certain models as well.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Pilot program with universities and schools to meet the needs of a group of students. To understand what their needs are and how to meet them.

Hi Courtney,

Thank you for your post.

I can imagine the MSc at Imperial would save the students a lot of money on rent based on current rental prices in London.

There are a few examples of different module designs in the research phase that might give you some inspiration:
