How have universities been designed? Pretty much the exact same way that they have been for centuries: as an academic centre of knowledge where certain professors are the key focal points that disseminate knowledge to everybody else. But this is vastly outdated. People learn and express education in totally different ways, not just by receiving cognitive information in classrooms. In reality, the lifeblood of any university is a flourishing student body. So if universities are for students, why shouldn’t they be designed by them? Or at least with them in mind?
Create 'Student Life Hubs’ on campus with the focus on the experiences and activities - letting students decide for themselves how they want to learn and live. If students have an idea, they can execute it. This goes from food and housing arrangements, to the campus sports and volunteer trips. Oh, and they can decorate their own classrooms.
