Why are we doing this? How are we going to do this?

The result of this challenge will be the "What".

However, the most successful classes, learning spaces or events I've accomplished, all have a common theme. The  "Why" and "How"were thoroughly investigated.

Also  IDEO's design methodology considers the stakeholders.

USA Funds, ASU GSV Summit, Georgia Tech, and Level Education from Northeastern University

Let's first start with the WHY?

One thing we all have in common is that we want our children and the future generations to be more successful in life. And unfortunate the the current definition   of success is monetary success. As David Suzuki puts it "economic academics and reasoning is a form of brain damage" What he is saying is that the economy is destroying our biosphere and thus us eventually.

So it is so important to redefine success in education, economics and life.

How do you define long term success in life?

Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine higher education to support the needs of tomorrow?

We are designing for tomorrow in the case of post secondary. However, is important that we envision a long term goal and proceed to work in that direction everyday.

This idea emerged from:

  • A group brainstorm

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

I need more connections with like minded people from around the world.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Start by using social media platforms to find common minded people. Then with a small group, arrange an event of some kind to test your theories. Make it lean and fun.

Tell us about your work experience:

I’m a STEAM teacher….and I absolutely love it. My main passion is developing learning methodologies and pedagogies for ages 4 to 24. Because, I now have my own innovation learning facilities, I’m no longer restricted by the old system regulations and thinking. Thus, I have been able to create something that is absent in the education field, Education R&D Hubs. Over the past ten years I've designed, implemented and tested 6 Creative Learning spaces for children and adults. Accumulated over 8000

The idea analysis that you have shared is good and it needs to be confirmed form at least some professionals who are working at caralyn university.

Good idea. It's been confirmed in the economic /marketing world. See Simon golden circles TED.
I'm testing it in the education feild. It's being implemented as one of a few high level frameworks. The more people testing it, the better and quicker we will get feedback data and observations.

Lucy Chen Thanks for the comment. This is not really an idea, it should have been posted in the research phase I was just too busy to get it in. Its a mindset or thinking approach to the challenges that education faces now.

Hi Max Noble

Looks interesting. Dissecting levels of knowledge is definitely crucial for learners to reflect on what they are learning.

What scale are you thinking about to develop this idea? Is it going to be a tool kit for a certain group of students? Will there be sample challenges and excericises designed to facilitate such thinking? What about a tracking system for students to organize their knowledge around this?

This reminds me of Gabriel Landowski 's idea of constructing learner's knowledge structure. Maybe what-why-how can be a methods used to reflect and organize the learnings? What do you guys think?
