Multi-development tracks for holistic HE education.

Higher education could be streamlined into these proposed development tracks as follow:

(1)Technology Track

-learning and mastery of exponential technologies

(2)Whole Person Development Track

-spiritual,physical,intellectual,relational and emotional development (Character Strengths, Human Flourishing, EQ & Empathy...)

-contemplative practices ( Creative/Stillness/Movement/Relational Aspects)

(3)Leadership Track

-lead global challenges and solutions using OpenIDEO, HeroX and other global platform.

-collaborate with global leaders in entrepreneurship.

-leading from the emerging future U.Lab MOOC.

Who is your idea designed for and how does it reimagine higher education to support the needs of tomorrow?

For undergraduate. postgraduate and adult learners . This proposed idea will redesign HE education to prepare learners to be future ready in life.

This idea emerged from:

  • An OpenIDEO outpost or chapter
  • An individual

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

Design thinking, marketing or business skills to further refine and prototyping of this idea to become desirable, feasible and impactful.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

I am seeking out online community, interest group or meet up group to test drive this idea.

Tell us about your work experience:

I have worked in an higher education institution in an engineering teaching and research environment for 20+ years . From my observation and experience, the focus in HE are more in academic excellence in technical subjects, projects, elective subject in other discipline, examination and thesis writing. There is lacking in whole person development and be future ready in life.

Your ideas are interesting. Do you propose that all students would complete all three tracks or that they would focus on only one?

Dear Terry,

Preferably the student could participate in all three proposed tracks. However, there could be selective modules in each track which the student could chose to immerse it. It is still work in progress to come up with a comprehensive curriculum for each track.
