N.B. Credit for the idea goes to a team from the Shanghai Chapter OpenIDEO event - Edupractical (see video).

The Problem:

1. Students are crippled with high debt after graduation without the guarantee of a job.

2. Students do not get a practical learning experience from university.

The Solution:

A system to have students seek funding from corporations for their school fees. Business students will approach business related corporations. Art students will approach museums, studios, etc. In exchange, the students will work on projects given to them by the corporations throughout their university career.

As this process requires proactivity from the students, there is a higher level of motivation and engagement, which is desirable for companies. The students that learn from practical projects in the course of their education are more skilled and trained, making them more ready to enter graduate programs of these companies.

Hi William,
Really nice idea. I have a suggestion for your idea. Online platform can be made to connect student with relevant people. Like Art museum can have open application for undertaking new museum projects or connect with bigger artist for museum projects. This may help to build relevant experience and career path.
