Food in the fridge isn't visually attractive

Food in the fridge doesn't look attractive, fridge looks more like a storage.

What is a provocation or insight that might inspire others during this challenge?

People don't bin food but packages as the food in the fridge doesn't look like a food. If it could be more visible.

I think that this is a great and usually over-looked point! Not only is it unattractive, but it's so easy/tempting to just shove all of your new groceries into the fridge when you get them, accidentally covering up older produce/foods that then go bad and you discover, quite sadly, a few weeks later as brown sludge. This makes me feel like there's not only a lot of opportunities to change package design, but also fridge designs

Hi Nathalie,

That's a great point! We're covering up older foods and we find out it's out of date. How to change a fridge design without changing our habits like shoving new groceries while talking to a child or being on a phone. One doesn't have time to think about an inventory during that time.

I agree with the need to make the design more visually attractive... and I know that personally, it is easy to forget about food when it is hidden behind other layers of stuff in the fridge. I've found it helpful to learn about ways to properly store things so that they last longer (both in the fridge and on the counter) like this quick factsheet:
