Because South Jakarta is renowned as one of the most regions that generates a massive food waste in Indonesia

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?


Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

The world’s second-largest food waster after Saudi Arabia last year and produced 13 million tonnes of food waste every year. Approx 12 per cent of the food provided at the hotel becomes food waste and food loss. While in restaurants, they throw away over roughly 4 per cent of the food provided. Imagine how could it be if Indonesia is in 2050?

Surplus is the first online marketplace in Indonesia which can enable customers to buy a meal from restaurants, hotels, pastries & bakeries, cafes, supermarkets etc., who have surplus food/haven’t sold at the day with 50% off before closing time

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

With Surplus, people can eat great food while saving money and their environment. Thus, they can contribute to make their planet greener by reducing CO2 and CH4 emissions significantly by 2050

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

 Our vision is to create a new environment without "Food Waste" in order to support SDG's goals number 2 (Zero Hunger), 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production) and 13 (Climate Action).

For user, the app is an easy way to eat great food while saving money and the environment.

For food retailer, It's an opportunity to reach new customers, earn extra income, reduce disposal cost while making the planet greener.  It’s a win-win solution!
