Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

Buea, a city in South West Region of Cameroon with inhabitants of about 47000 people with an are of 8074 square kilo metres.

What country is your selected Place located in?

Republic of Cameroon

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

This is to impact the community by reducing the level of pollution through the disporsal of non biodegradable waste from non renewable sources of energy. It will also be good since the planting of trees(Jatropha curcas)   will conserve the environment.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Buea is make up of many social diversities with the natives of the inhabitant  known as Bakwerians. The practice one culture and are mostly affected by the cultural diversities present in this area. Most of the youths are students and others are business men and farmers.

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

The people of Buea are from different cultural backgrounds in Cameroon where many are students and others are the natives of the land (bakwerians) while others are business men and farmers since the soil is very fertile for agricultural activities. The place is located at the foot of mt Cameroon with a momo modal rain fall regeme. Food production is not a problem with respect to soil fertility but most farmers faced difficulties in pest and disease management alongside lack of good road from farm to market.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

Through this vision for production of renewable biofeul from Jatropha curcas, It will help the living standard of farmers in Buea since the kernels from Jatropha curcas will not be only for fuel production but also for animal feed, fertiliser, ink, and biopesticides for maintenace of organic food crops.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

The use of biofeul in Buea will drastically improve their living standard, reduced the increase rate of climate change due to use of non biodegradable materials. It will also increase the country's GDP.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

With this vision successfully implemented,  Buea will be at the level of second generation agriculture and most of our food can be grown and stored by organic methods. Hence reducing the risk of cancernogenic, tetratogenic effects onon human health due to use of non biodegradable materials and waste disporsal..
