Migrated into Makurdi in 2007 for my University Education and since after graduation,i am now settled here.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Makurdi is the state Capital of Benue State with a total population of over 1 Million people with diverse cultural backgrounds and is rated as the Food Basket of Nigeria.

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

The Nigerian food system has little attention paid to the meat and its products. By the year 2050,if we don't have processed and hygienically packaged mean products on shelf, we will experience shortage in animal protein demand for consumption.

Our vision is designed to create value for the pig farmers and also provide a unique variety of meat product for the Nigerian consumers.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

Out vision will provide an attraction for the African community in areas of food tourism and also serve a nutritious meal for all class of people.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

Economically,our vision will create more jobs by directly hiring youths as staff of the factory and indirectly as pig farmers.

Our Vision to upgrade and integrate the use of a modern technology in the Nigerian meat processing will affect different factors either negatively or positively:
it is an established fact that meat production is one of the largest contributors to the green house gas, although this varies with different processing constraints and methods applied in the production practices. our practice on this project intends to procure a meat jerky equipment that could possibly utilize either electric or solar power source in functioning and therefore minimal procedures like roasting would include less carbon emissions to the environment that would cause more environmental damages.

our project will integrate into consumption of pork and other of our jerky meat products as these products will be neatly packaged into well branded packages. These products will welcome many and more classes of people who only consume meat in cooked forms to see a variety of products that would entice their consumption.

We have already made selection on a thermal meat jerking machine that would create an ideal for local fabricators for other micro processors locally within our environment. The jerky machine has simple features that can give room for development locally.

We have no strict policies that restricts meat processing. The basic policies are those that requires regulations which incorporates all food products and other consumer goods which we have established contact with the National Food,Drug Administration and Control office within our vicinity for possible registration tips. The Nigerian policy on meat has a very weak or no implementation strategy at all. In almost all the states of the Federation, there no adequate facility abattoirs that would provide to the public quality and hygienic meat products, which meat serve as one of the greatest pathogens for a lot of worms and bacterial infections,hence we hear a lot about zoonotic diseases.

We intend to utilize this vision through the use of foreign technology that would give room for locally adaptation for possible fabrications and numerous scale down that would produce many and more micro meat processors within Benue and Nigeria at large.
We have a standard stakeholder mapping strategy already in place. we will carry advocacy and awareness through flyers and visits for those in the regulatory capacities.
