Galati

Lead Applicant: In what country are you located?

Romania

Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

Club Mecena is designed to be active everywhere. We can choose any city.

What country is your selected Place located in?

Club Mecena is designed to be active everywhere. We can choose together any country for the start of the club. We aren't constrained.

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

In my country people have agricultural land where they can do agriculture. The purpose of Mecena Club is to be universal, to produce food and to maintain the health of the group.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

People everywhere who end their activity within the companies have a private space where they can get involved according to their abilities for growing flowers, growing mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, etc., raising birds for eggs or meat, poultry, rabbits, for personal or extended family needs, for elderly centers, abandoned children, hospitals, schools, or for money, etc., but they remain healthy through pleasant activities with moderate and non-stressful effort.

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

19000000

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

The World Health Organization, in its World Report on Ageing and Health, defines healthy aging as “the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables well-being in older age.” To achieve this, a complex interplay of several factors—genetics, socioeconomic circumstances, physical environments, behavior, and access to quality health care—need to be addressed concurrently

A holistic systems-approach is essential, whereby all sectors collaborate and co-innovate to advance those lifestyles, behaviors, services, supports, and infrastructures that are essential to fostering good and equitable health outcomes, along with ongoing productivity and societal value, as people live longer. Without harnessing these opportunities, we will experience profound consequences worldwide and fall short in achieving critical domestic and global health agendas, including the Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage, as population aging is inextricably linked with many of them.

Concrete progress to coordinate comprehensive global action is urgently needed.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

Mecena Club

People everywhere who end their activity within the companies have a private space where they can get involved according to their abilities for growing flowers, growing mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, etc., raising birds for eggs or meat, poultry, rabbits, for personal or extended family needs, for elderly centers, abandoned children, hospitals, schools, or for money, etc., but they remain healthy through pleasant activities with moderate and non-stressful effort.

Let's look at the economic side. In a single city there can be millions of house birds that come to market, millions of eggs, fresh vegetables, fruits. Something needs to be changed in our way of life to make it happen, more foods at the same time maintaining health.

Everything is difficult until we start this engine called Mecena Club. It is not a private club in the classical sense, it is not a club of a city, nor of a country. It is intended to be a universal club with local specificity without subordination degrees.

When starting this engine we will have to put all our shoulders. Municipalities, mass media, people with money, companies. It belongs to us all because it concerns us all.

Harvest is that older people have financial resources and do not depend on how much they earn in urban agriculture. This allows them a more recreational activity with important economic effects.

We can focus on a city, develop the club, see what goes and what doesn't go then make it known to the whole world.

We people feel the need to belong to a group. Companies know this and they continuously feed us the feeling we need during the activity. But there is an event, the end of the career. Suddenly at the end of their career, when they leave the company, the people are alone, they really feel that they are losing their meaning. The children are gone and have their lives and time is plenty.

Older people will have the feeling of belonging to a group again, and if it is a special one that makes the patronage even more attractive. Wearing the Mecena Grup ring will individualize them and will offer them the benefit. We are inspired by the activity of urban agriculture and we organize to produce mushrooms, lettuce, poultry, animals, etc. at home.

Among the most important benefits are the exit from loneliness, moderate work, the creation of brain mechanisms, I have to meet with X to give her mushrooms, I expect Y to tell me how the delivery is done, I have to call Y to see how he did, we meet on Saturday with the people in the neighborhood to exchange. All these have the role of removing the person from loneliness, to have a concern, to work as they do, to have public satisfaction and recognition for what they do but with immortal economic results, millions of eggs and birds will enter the economic circuit.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

These people will gain a new sense of life, a new status in the Mecca Cube, they work as much as they can or they can, they remain physically and mentally active, socially involved in the economy and their status is different. They have a social role in the economic development in helping the children or the elderly, the schools in the neighborhood, etc.

The effect is great, these people become economically active while staying physically healthy but without the mental constraint felt by the employees, the boss who supervises or stresses them, the daily schedule, etc. Significant quantities of food will be delivered to the economy.

The entire chain of this activity in Club Mecena will be coordinated only by the elderly, according to the abilities of each one. Some can work directly in agricultural crops, others can be accountants, other carriers, other sellers, others can computerized production, orders and deliveries.

It's a huge feeling that you can be active again, but your own boss. You decide how much you get involved and feel the pleasure of giving something to other people working at home or even making money. There's nothing wrong with that.

People who experience this feeling are bypassed by disease. Moderate physical effort keeps the body alive and healthy. Urban agriculture is no longer like a burden of the unrestrained, but is metamorphosed into Club Mecena. The activity becomes interesting, new things can be learned daily about cultivation technologies, which maintains the well-being of the elderly.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

The rapid urbanization that is going on is coupled with a rapid increase in urban poverty and urban food insecurity. By 2020, developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America will be home to approximately 75% of all urban dwellers and eight of the nine anticipated mega-cities, with populations over 20 million.

Agriculture within Mecena Club can take place in locations within (intra-urban) cities or in peri-urban areas. The activities can be carried out on the house (on the land) or on a land far from the residence (off-plot), on private lands (owned, rented) or on public lands (parks, conservation areas, along roads, streams and railways)), or semi-public lands (school yards, school grounds and hospitals).

In more developed cities, urban agriculture can be undertaken for the physical and / or psychological relaxation it offers, rather than for the production of food itself. Also, urban and peri-urban farms can play an important role in providing recreational opportunities for citizens (leisure routes, purchasing food and meals on the farm, visiting facilities) or having educational functions (bringing young people into contact with animals, teaching). about ecology, etc.).

Today, 8.5% of people worldwide (617 million) are aged 65 and over, and by 2050, this figure is projected to more than double, reaching 1.6 billion. At the global and national levels, we remain unprepared to support the social, fiscal, and health care needs of the growing elderly population. Combined with declining fertility rates, the rapid aging of the population globally is poised to strain economies, health systems, and social structures worldwide.

Sa privim si partea economica a Mecena Club.

Let's also look at the economic part of Mecena Club. In a single city there can be millions of housebirds that come to market, millions of eggs, fresh vegetables, fruits.

By combining the two needs, the nutrition and health maintenance Club Mecena visually responds to the challenges that will come in the perspective of the 2050s.
