  • Youth Organisation (between 18 - 30 years old)

If part of a multi-stakeholder entity (i.e. team), provide the names of other organizations and types of stakeholders collaborating with you.

At this time we are not collaborating with corporate, SME or other NGO and any funding is currently with and privately.

How long have you / your team been working on this Vision?

  • Under 1 year

Lead Applicant: In what city or town are you located?

Padang Panjang city

Lead Applicant: In what country are you located?

Indonesia

Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

Kayu Tanam, West Sumatra Indonesia that has a total area of approximately of 2 ha.

What country is your selected Place located in?

Indonesia

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

We do it in our own garden by trying this method and being able to easily compare it to conventional methods.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Located at the foot of Mount Tandikek with cool air with strong traditions of farming, our staple food is rice with various spices and additions to these foods such as chillies, sweet potatoes, potatoes, onions and others are the main commodities grown besides, clove chocolate etc.

Strong farming tradition makes the spirit of farming high enough, in increasing the production and quality of cropping various innovations were boldly applied including these innovations that we have tried and what we bring now is a development from what we have done.

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

5000

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

Increasing population will exponentially increase its food needs so that bold innovation is needed in the food sector by making the most effective use of available land. Without having to cut down forests for new land that would be very dangerous for the vast ecosystem. Regarding the vision going forward, technological innovation will improve the quality of human life.
Innovation and enthusiasm will improve the level of the human economy, the quality of diets will be better and more equitable, various policies will adjust to this goal and culture and environment will also be better. These Vision Need Solution in my place, people need proof in every change offered.
We need financial assistance in inviting and providing evidence of this broader solution to achieve this vision.
The increasing number of people at the same time their property reduces the area of land for agriculture, because most houses are built on agricultural land. While it is not only in terms of the amount of food quality that needs to be improved, it is our inspiration and motivation to carry out this method. For that we will prove to them more broadly how effective this method is in increasing the quantity and quality of agriculture and food.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

By applying this method increased yields can be felt directly without damaging the ecosystem even the rest of the planting can be used as compost and various other positive benefits.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

An increase in crop yields that are well distributed will increase farmers income and the availability of sufficient food can maintain the health and nutrition of the wider community which is of course the same we expect plus the application of this method prevents the destruction of nature so that nature will remain sustainable.

While using conventional methods has a tendency to disturb ecosystems and lack of effectiveness in meeting food demand.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

Regarding the vision going forward, technological innovation will improve the quality of human life.
Innovation and enthusiasm will improve the level of the human economy, the quality of diets will be better and more equitable, various policies will adjust to this goal and culture and environment will also be better. These Vision Need Solution in my place, people need proof in every change offered.

For that we will prove to them more broadly how effective this method is in increasing the quantity and quality of agriculture and food.

In 2050 if there is no change in the method of resistance will be very dangerous for human survival. Different but tested methods are needed the planting methods that increase efficient land use as illustrated above.

The environment and ecosystem will be maintained with food needs that remain available both in quantity and quality, with good distribution as in the files below can increase farmers' income directly because this method is easy and inexpensive in its application.

We tested this application at the time of planting chillies in 2 ha of land, it did not require many workers but resulted in yields that were much higher than ordinary methods on the same wide land at the same time.
