Lead Applicant: In what city or town are you located?

Yola, Adamawa State

Lead Applicant: In what country are you located?

Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

Cape Town Western Cape

What country is your selected Place located in?

South Africa

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

My lead partner is from South African and she was instrumental in innovating this concept. This myHEALTHfirst plan was piloted in Cape Town - Western Cape. Cape Town was selected because innovative health practices are embraced - health providers are more progressive and supportive in alternative health practices and beliefs. There is a healthy mindset about (personal) health in this town. With the increase in diabetes and other chronic related diseases, the population is awakening to alternate and aggressive health measures in address declining health.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

Our Vision is about incentivizing healthy living and contributing to a better environment and putting less pressure on food systems.

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

The people will be different because they will be healthier - reduced cases of illness and sickness as related to poor diet, and nutrition. Now diabetes is on the increase along with obesity and heart disease. Implementing myHEALTHfirst plan will reduce sickness and health providers will be leaders in creating health in communities.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?
