Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.
We think at the intersection of Food and Technology, there is new across roads. FoodTech is a brand new and rapidly expanding category set to hit £250 billion by 2022, according to Forbes. But where two such enormous industries as Food and Tech collide, creating a mega-category such as FoodTech; how do you discover the latest new launches and key trends shaping the future of food?
At Forward Fooding we're helping businesses and individuals navigate the food tech landscape and discover the latest innovations, trends, funding information and movements from key startups, investors and accelerators across the globe.
Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.
We foster innovation by matching big companies' innovation needs with technology solutions that are avialable in the market. We source data from multiple sources including our very own Global FoodTech Map (forwardfooding.com/globalfoodtechmap), which provides detailed access to over 2,500 companies and individuals shaping the FoodTech scene. Our AI tools constantly check database entries, data enrichers automatically browse the web to add new companies and update information across various sources, and a team of data scouts manually curate the data to ensure its relevance and accuracy, and to keep building partnerships with global data providers.
We think FoodTech and AgTech industries are capitalizing on this emerging sector with the dropping costs of digital technologies, as well as they are working to revolutionize our food and agriculture systems through entrepreneurship and innovation. But it’s not just startups: key stakeholders across the global food system, from corporate food companies, to governments, investors, non-profits, and academics, are reshaping how we produce, supply, deliver and consume foods around the globe. This evolution today has spawned unique food concepts such as farmtech, home delivery meal kits, bioenergy, insect farms, plant-based meats, e-grocery commerce and much more.
And yet, a common database to connect and promote rising enterprises in the AgriFoodTech sector did not exist until now. Forward Fooding’s aim with the FoodTech Data Navigator is to raise awareness of the sector while keeping in mind the end goal of feeding a growing global population of 10 billion by 2050 in an increasingly volatile global food system.
