The place where we have developed our vision for is 3 central provinces of Afghanistan, Kabul, Parwan and Nangarhar with 18163km2 area.

Kabul is the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, together with the cities of Jalalabad, Heart and Mazar is Afghanistan’s key center of trade, Nangarhar The major investments are in the field of agriculture, livestock, infrastructure and governance. According to the Department of Agriculture in Jalalabad, there is 97,000 Ha of arable irrigated agricultural land in the province. Nangarhar can rightly be called the food basket for the whole of Afghanistan as most of the crops produced here are consumed in different provinces. Parwan Province has excellent potential for economic growth mainly due to its proximity to, and good infrastructure links with Kabul. Parwan Province is situated on the Salang road, the main trade route to the north, at the crossroads to Bamyan Province in the west and to Panjsher Province in the east. Though Parwan may not be Afghanistan’s bread basket, it has potential to develop into a centre for various kinds of high value products needed in Afghanistan. We (our team) have lived and grown in these places and we are witness of how these places, which are rich of natural resources and capacities are being destroyed.

Parwan: a centeral province of Afghanistan, which is located in 64km of Kabul. A province made of high mountains, rivers and green nature. Where different nations (Tjik, Turk, Pashtoon, Aimaq and Hazara) live together in peace. It’s populations is 664502 person and it’s area is 5974 km square. Handicraft of it’s people are nassagi, making metal tools, carpet and Gilim which are popular in whole country. Most population in this province are farmers and it’s grape, berries, apple, apricot and almond are famous.
Kabul the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, together with the cities of Jalalabad, Heart and Mazar is Afghanistan’s key center of trade. One of the biggest cities, where people have access to all kinds of food in each season of the year, this province has 4462 km square area and 4373 million populations. Most of the people have access to the technology and all nations of Afghanistan live here together.
Evergreen province of Afghanistan, is Nangarhar. The climate and four season cultivability turned out to be the main reason behind the tendency of traders, investors, farmers and other people to this place. As Nangarhar is a developing province, many people are busy in agriculture and livestock. Many districts deserved adequate water and its vegetables included cucumber, tomato, onion, okra, cauliflower, squash, radish, potato, wheat, rice, turnip, maize and barleys. Industrial activities are impressive many food and organic producing companies are active. Pashtun, Tajik, Pashaye and Arab are the living tribes, Pashto, Dari and Pashaye are spoken language of this area. Nangarhar has 1436 milion population and 7727 km square area.

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.
1: The first and main problem that our food system faces is in farmland, which is unawareness of our farmers, who are mainly involved in our food system chain. They don’t have the basic knowledge of farmland test, cultivation method, irrigation systems, crops, method of collection and needs of market.
2: secondly, destruction of farmlands in result of population growth, lack of water, unprofessional staffs and classic methods of agriculture.
3: Third, unavailability of recycling system, there is no recycling system for recycling of food wastes.
4: Unavailability of industrial refrigerators for all kinds of crops, which causes spoiled and destroy of crops in their seasons when they ripe.
5: Unavailability of irrigation system for all farmland, which causes low quality products.
6: Population growth Afghanistan’s population growth rate is very high in the world and it estimates that our population will reach to more than 60 million person in 2050 which definitely causes low food security, hunger and poverty.

Developing a composite system of sites and online technologies, where the people involve in the process of “from farm to the supermarket” get all necessary knowledge of modern agriculture; cultivation, irrigation, collection, storage and transportation. These sites are connected to one controller and monitor center, where farmers are trained for the process of cultivation and receipt along side receiving market demands most needed productions for the season shorting changes between farmers and consumers, lands and products evaluation and checkups by professionals as well as receiving weather news and more related data. Beside this online technologies are promoted as mobile application for the mentioned purposes while this farmers and all people evolving in the process are being equipped with required knowledge for using this technology.
Establishment and development of water conservation systems from rainfalls and snow falls, which helps both surface and ground water with good management of country rivers. If 40% of all cultivable lands is irrigated Afghanistan will be self-sufficient in agriculture sector.
Creating of recycling systems, where collects food and agriculture wastes from the processes of production and consumption to produce new products.
Unavailability of Industrial refrigerators and storage are the biggest problems, But by implementation of already planned strategies it will partly solve and keeping of the process will respond to our future needs in this section.
Implementation of urban plans for buildings construction can be a solution for preventing destruction of farm lands caused by population growth in big cities.
High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.
After achievement of our vision a literate generation of farmers and ranchers with improved livelihood is raised.
An intelligent system of modern agriculture where the production and consumption is monitored, food security is ensured and wastes are reduced.
The place where people have access to sufficient and affordable food every time and everywhere. All together have impact on economy of the country.
Parwan and Nangarhar will be the center of quality food products, in our country. The active sites are helping farmers and food companies by online and offline services, held seminars and short term training, help them understand needs of farmlands, and provide clear guides and news about demands and supply of the market. Farmers knows how to prevent from food wastes, spoilage, and plants disease, they use modern irrigation systems that give them the power to manage their less water sources and use each drop of their water. Our farmlands irrigate by water from water reservoir which have made for collecting of rain and snow waters. Food and animal wastes collect by private companies in each agriculture, production and consumption sites and use to produce new products. Food wastes decreases and are under control now. All crops find in every season of the year and all people have access to secure, balanced and nutritious food 365 days a year. All districts improved and have access to livelihood facilities and people live in their full potential.
Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?
Our vision is a system of interconnected elements by which our environment is strongly affected. Having smart recycling system in the area where food and agriculture wastes are reused and are not arrived to the environment. Green and flourishing environment as a result of improved irrigation system, water reservoirs and generally abundance of water. The more lands are cultivated and the more flourishing area we have, the cleaner air will be.
Balancing and monitoring production and consumption of agriculture produce and to promote the system where people have access to all kinds of nourishing foods, where these people have ability and understanding of picking the best recipe for their daily consumption.
“Exports” is the key element which has impressive impact on the economy of a country, developing agriculture lands and sustainable irrigation system and in the result high production rate, paving the way for a durable system of exportation and give access to affordable food for all people.
People of Afghanistan use almost all kinds of agriculture productions, various kinds of ready meals. New products and new technologies are always welcomed by new generation here that would help to balance production and consumption and accomplish diets recommendations.
The vision is considering mechanized agriculture; an assembled system of online technologies with recycling, storage, products and farmlands modification technologies and modern machinery for cultivation and receipt process.
Food policy will develop so much that we can compare it with today, such us more food standards will pass by ANSA (Afghanistan national standardization authority) all food production sites will have international certifies, that causes high quality food products, all food process line will be checked out by government, distribution policies will be pass by government and people have access to different kinds of nutritious food to choose from. All active sites which will establish have professional staffs (food technologist, doctors, food scientist, veterinarian, and agriculture specialists), who will consult food producers.
This food system is a complex and intricate system of new technologies and modern methodologies for the process which is demandant of high expenses. Convincing the current generation of farmers for using new technologies, rapid population growth and general security issues in our country are considerable challenges. But all these mentioned challenges are manageable in the future.
