Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.
Today’s Venezuelan (and others Latin America & Caribbean countries) agriculture is facing a lot of challenges to supply food to a huge demand from people, while having to deal with the lack of supplements and taking care of the environment.
Precision agriculture seeks to be efficient in terms of supplies (fertilizers, herbicides, etc.) and protect the environment, but this requires large investments in sensors and special devices that the common farmer can not invest. Is needed an alternative really valuable for small and medium farmers
This idea arose in response to the initiative of the confounders to find a solution to the problems of food production in Venezuela, plunged into a serious political, institutional and economic crisis. The team started with the identification of the most important problems in the industry and designed a draft of what should be a technological solution that was accessible to producers without require large investments in technology.
Our team identified sugarcane as the best crop to execute first AgroCognitive pilot. Public relations with the sector were needed and built, signed collaboration agreements with pilot farmers and alliances with local research institutes

Our target people we impact with our enterprise are small farmers who live in rural areas of the country devoid of public services. They are NOT isolated since trade in their raw materials is their source of economic income. For the most part, they occupy productive lands in the western plains of Venezuela, their food is based on grazing meat, rice, corn and other grains.
The agribusiness ecosystem (small, medium, even the big ones) needs a platform that integrates the food supply chain from the farmer, the vendors of agricultural supplies, the food industry need the banks that give them credit. A platform that helps the producer to be efficient and at the same time provides the predictive analytics will allow the entire ecosystem to know the yields that the farms will give. This helps the farmer to negotiate better prices for their products and guarantees to banks.

For small and medium farmers, AgroCognitive is an asset that not only helps them analyze their crops and understand where they should apply corrective actions, but also can predict yields. Knowing the results of the crops in advance, allows the farmers to access lines of credit with banks and even with the agro industry buyers

Diets: change eating habits to incorporate a new variety of sources of plant protein replacing meats from livestock activity
Economics: increase crop yields to increase revenues and have better access to well-being (education for children, better food, sanitation conditions, etc.)
Culture: adopt the new rules and trends in agricultural production to reach the new standards for food trading, leaving behind the ancestral family practices and the beliefs on how to manage their farms
Technology: to adopt the new technological pillars (AI, IoT, blackchain) that are mega trends to make their farms reach the highest level of productivity
Policy: Develop a model of social self-management that allows rural communities to manage space and resources efficiently and for the benefit of everyone

AgroCognitive will let to farmers place data and images into our platform (or our platform can get them from satellites) and give them back key diagnosis and analytics about what is happening in their crops, what they should do (best practices) and what they will have in crop yields and others very important KPI.

AgroCognitive is the platform that will provide you with the tools to do it at a very low cost
Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

We believe the future of new food system will be based in vegetable protein sources and insects. In both type of grown activities, precision farming is the way to reach an optimum level of productivity and the technologies such as artificial intelligence and the internet of things will be the triggers for an agricultural activity controlled and managed under strict environmental control standards, the use of high quality agricultural supplies and nutritional value. In my country it has been identified a kind of bean called "Chinese bean" has a very high nutritional value. Experimental fields are being opened to grow it on a larger scale to encourage the creation of processing industries for this bean and produce vegetable meat. All this is a private initiative that arises thanks to the use of precision agriculture technologies to identify the best cultural practices on the available soils.
Our venture is a key link in enabling environmental sustainable conditions, soil planning, efficiency and culture changes to identify new sustainable food systems that can be articulated with new public policies.
