Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

The Pysces Configuration applies vertical farming principles in multiply agricultural produce of the conventional African urban farmer by 23 times while reducing consumption of farming resources such as water, fertilizer and land area, furthermore, bringing fresh healthy farm produce to the housewives cooking. It combines Aquaculture with subsystems in Hydroponics, Snailery, Poultry to create a Hybrid Aquaponics farming model. This fits perfectly with the adjacent processes of Fertilizer Production, and Energy Generation to generate revenues upward of 70 million NGN on every 100 x 50 ft2 plot of land in its basic form. Combined with a secondary manufacturing or processing outfit it could generate exponentially more. This project designs and creates the pysces configuration to serve the global market with a demand of more than 170 trillion tonnes in just a single product category, fish. It is designed for: Low energy requirement, Automated operation which in turn enables farmers handle high yield capacities, Low land area and land quality requirements, Minimum product transport cost, Premium profit margins, Lean start-up cost, and Local area economic rejuvenation. Its innovative nature makes its a portfolio booster for any company or individual seeking international recognition as a viable technological partner in Africa. **Justification** A sad story earlier this year from our West-African neighbour Mali tells the tale of a woman and her malnourished child. According to mother herself, she had watched her child suffer for months due to malnutrition but was too scared to take the child to the hospital. The roads were dangerous and punctuated with armed militias fighters. Finally, she had no choice but to brave the journey barefoot when the situation became critical. In her words, she would rather be shot on the road or have her child die in her arms on the way than doing nothing. On reaching the hospital, however, the doctors could not help her, they referred her to the next town over. (Full article: Unicef) The above story is a typical household topic for over 6 million children in West and Central Africa according to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, Unicef. People are starving all around the world and by 2050 food productions need to increase by 50%. This balances poorly against the 33% drop in fresh water and Furthermore, nutrition-related diseases account for a lot of the more commonly encountered health issues around these same parts of the world: Hypertension; Diabetes; Kwashiorkor; Scurvy; Pellagra; Marasmus; Scleral ulcerations; Iron deficiency anaemia; Goitre; Rickets; Plummer-Vinson syndrome; Twitches; Fatigue; Dizziness; Irritability; Hair loss; Hypocalcaemia; Keshan disease; Osteoporosis; Metabolic anomalies and more. It has become imperative that we in this part of the world learn to produce incredible food quantities irrespective of the land available, its quality, and the availability of water. The pysces configuration sits in a unique position to achieve this objective and create a brand new industry niche for itself.
