Lead Applicant: In what city or town are you located?

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire

Lead Applicant: In what country are you located?

Cote d'Ivoire

Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

Lagunes District is one of fourteen administrative districts of Cote d'Ivoire, has a total area of 2 119 km2

What country is your selected Place located in?

Cote d'Ivoire

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

I live in Cote d'Ivoire and we understand the country realities deeply

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Abidjan is the economic capital ofCote d'Ivoire andone of the most populous French-speaking cities in Africawith nearly 6 million inhabitants. They are over200,000 small- and medium-sized street vendors, outlets and kiosks offood staples anda highly inefficient value chain and distributon of food produce.

What is the estimated population (current 2020) in your Place?

6000000

Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.

The transportation of locally-grown food produce is highly inefficient and expensive. This results into:

*Up to 40% of food produce grown by farmers perishes through the value chain
* Food is the #1 household expense in Cote d'Ivoire eating 40,7% of revenues, including for low-income households. The final price paid by families in cities can represent a 1200% markup from farm-gate price (e.g. Banana in Cote d’Ivoire).

Cote d'Ivoire produces 18 million tons of food produce that is transported from producing areas to cities

*Over 200,000 small- and medium-sized street vendors, outlets andkiosks of food staples are present in Abidjan and have to cover moderate to long distances to urban wholesale markets in the absence of last-mile delivery solutions.

Address the Challenges: Describe how your Vision will address the challenges described in the previous question.

Inspite of 18 million tons of food staples and produce moving within the country, there is no specialized transporter focused on moving food produce in Cote d'Ivoire.

We are Cote d'ivoire's and Africa's first green transportation company fully dedicated to moving only food produce.

We combine (1) clean vehicles + (2) big data to transform food distribution in Cote d'Ivoire and Africa :

* We provide an end-to-end transportation service sourcing produce directly from farms and delivering them onsite to food retailers in cities through a fleet of vehicles running on cleaner fuels.

According to each country legislation and availability, we own a fleet of trucks, vans and cargo bikes running on either solar, electric, gas or biomass-based agrofuels as cleaner and cheaper alternatives to petrol.

In Cote d'Ivoire, we plan to use gas-powered trucks for wholesale sourcing and solar cargo tricycles for the urban delivery to food retailers.

* We deploy a number of tech solutions: embark trackers on vehicles, provide a unified ordering platform for urban food retaileras (can order via phone call, SMS, whatsapp, email etc...).

A wealth of data will be collected and is anticipated to help transform mobility for food : choosing best routes, sales prediction and better food inventory to make distribution greener and food cheaper for low income households

High Level Vision: With these challenges addressed, now provide a high level description of how the Place and the lives of its People will be different than they are now.

Cleaner fuel trucks will collect food produce paid at decent price to small farmers and sent to Abidjan. From there, we help street vendors and food retailers to avoid waking up at 4:00 AM everyday and deliver via solar tricycles quantities of food produce they then retail.

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

We have established Cote d'ivoire's and Africa's first green transportation company fully dedicated to moving food produce.
