Konduga is a community in Borno State, Nigeria and the center of a Local Government Area of the same name about 25 km to the southeast of Maiduguri, situated on the north bank of the Ngadda River. The population of the Konduga Local Government Area is about 13,400. The people are in hunger and malnutrition.
Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.
Smallholder farmers in Nigeria remain underprivileged, lacking access to critical information required for their agricultural activities. We are often not able to produce sufficiently for our communities and often see limited incentives to produce more than what is needed for our own livelihood. This is primarily caused by the limited access to the inputs, support services, markets and credit, which would enable us to increase our production and sales volumes.
Probably future challenge;
Shortage of capital, land tenure,population of small farm holders and fragmented land,inadequate infrastructural facilities, poor attitudes toward adoption of new innovation and non- availability of transportation and storage means as problems.
