Any unused places from roof tops in metropolitan cities to infertile places.To meet food demands in urban areas along with promotion of ecology by increasing plantations and improve pollution standards.
Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.
The aim is to enable farming anywhere and concept has no location constraints.Every city covers several lakhs of sqft of unused roof tops of buildings,malls,etc.Every sqft in these cities is a tangible asset to allocate for plantations but roof tops are joint properties which aren't claimed or used by anyone.Barren lands with infertile soil and other resource constraints for farming can be converted to food producers.Attached is the areal view of a part of one of the most populated city Brooklyn in New York.This top view is the proof of most uninhabited and resourceful parts of most popular cities which can be mended to rooftop farms for both food production and environmental sustainability.The most important factor for farming which is sunlight is abundant,water and any man power required are at hand.
Challenges: Describe the current (2020) and the future (2050) challenges that your food system faces.
The concept is novel and identified to be of higher potential if kept to practice.The currently designed M/NEMS are adaptable to fewer species of plant with certain anatomic specifications.The control and monitoring of this system on large scale has to be designed efficiently to promote yield and plant survival.The farm management and resource acquisition are challenging task on broad scale.This model of farming is novel and not yet kept to practice, but stands promising ,can be solution to ahead of time problems of food scarcity,deforestation, land infidelities.

The anatomy of various species are examined and a unified Point of Implant is chosen with the help of data and image processing algorithms.The nano/micro capillaries available today are viable for any species and actuators,motors drive the hydraulic micro fluidic system of plants.The controllability is achieved by imbibing IOT to the farm and having a centralized and remote monitoring capabilities.The concept validation can bring a new era to farming especially the land which is cultivated from centuries to today are mostly dependent on fertilizers.This method also solves the growth and yield related issues by creating a physiological shock and customized mineral supliments.

More food production without further deforestation and excessive fertilizers. Remote monitoring and controlling the farm setup on roof tops can make create new employment and food markets.Water consumption for this method of farming is far less than hydroponics and not susceptible to risks of it.Land, water and labour resources are conserved which are highly accountable in future.The rate of migration to cities is growing significantly and the pollutants concentrations is uncontrollable in many cities like Beijing,Delhi,etc.The area under roof top can become a boon for both environment and food markets demands in these denser cities.

As Richard Feynman once quoted that there is a lot of room at the bottom, ironically there is a lot of room in between natural and genetically engineered bio systems also.The resources such as water and land utilization level have a lot of direct and butterfly effects on entire biome and impacts climatic changes. It is high time we adopt new ways to conserve both resources and feed the billions of emerging population.With the Micro/Nano technologies we can create new era of farming which can be a step before genetic modeling.Apart from meeting food demands due to any regional adaptability of concept environmental impacts can be promising and can be a solution for minimising pollutants concentrations.IOT allow the farms to be monitored and controlled remotely and effectively and also uncertainty in crop time ,yields and market are reduced and wastage of the crop due to these gaps are reduced.New sector of jobs with lesser expertise than that required for hydroponics are created. The indoor vertical farms currently adopted method requires high precision monitoring and involves power consumption.
