Your Selected Place: what’s the name of the Place you’re developing a Vision for?

the republic of Mali, is a country in West Africa, and covers an area of 1,241,430 km2 with a population of over 18 million

What country is your selected Place located in?

Describe your relationship to the place you’ve selected.

I chose Mali because in the first place Mali is my country of origin and it is also one of the poorest countries in the world, where food malnutrition is taking its toll.

Describe the People and Place: Provide information that would be helpful for an outsider who has never been there and may have no context about this Place to better understand the area.

Mali which is a geographical crossroads in West Africa, but also a human crossroads. There are indeed many ethnicities. We can notably cite: - the Bambaras - the Malinkés- the Bozos- the Bobos- the Dogons, the Tuaregs, the Peuls ... this ethnic group is that of the best known of West Africa. -

In Mali, more than 90% of the inhabitants are Muslim; 1% are Christians (among them, the Dogons and the Bobos). As for the rest of the population (9%), it is still animist.

The history of Mali is characterized by a succession of great empires (the Empire of Ghana, Mali, the Songhai Empire, the Bambara Kingdoms, the Kingdom of Macina, the Toucouleur Kingdom, the Senufo Kingdoms) until the period colonial. From the beginning of the 19th century, until 1959, this country which was called French Sudan was a former French colony. It was from 1960 that he became independent and bore his name that we know today. Malian cuisine is mainly prepared from millet, rice, cereals and semolina, to which are added fish (carp, Nile perch ...) or meats (mutton, chicken, beef ...) and vegetables. Among the specialties, you can enjoy: - the mafé: chicken or meat cooked with vegetables in a peanut sauce. However, it is important to highlight the fact that each ethnic group corresponds to one or more typical dishes.

Mali’s economy remains dominated by the primary sector, particularly agriculture, livestock farming and fishing

socio-political (ii)
an open and competitive economic space marked by rapid urbanization and the changes it brings about in terms of changing consumption habits;

Full Vision: How do you describe your Vision for a regenerative and nourishing food future for your Place and People for 2050?

Advances in technology and innovation are decisive for the future of agriculture, with the agro-industry struggling to feed an ever-growing population in the context of climate change, scarcity of water resources and many concerns. environmental. Innovative technologies and advances in productivity are becoming more and more important due to the increasing pressure on food systems many farmers do not have the means to process their products and make them accessible to all. agro-food industrialization is the best option for sustainable development and a world without hunger and good health
